I found a pestle (mortar and pestle) in a local creek that is believed to have been used by the Coastal Miwok Indians who lived in this area for approximately 5000 years up in to the late 1800’s.
There is still oxidized residue and a partial shearing on the head of the pestle from heavy usage.
What should I do with this item and who or where can I donate it?
