How can someone prove/tell if something is a real native american artifact?

My cousin found a hunk of driftwood a few weeks ago that is oddly shaped. It appears to be a digging tool possibly used by native americans, though we are unsure. It was buried, which seems rather odd considering he was at Lake Michigan, though it is obviously possible that it was simply stuck in the sand.

As far as the texture, it is about a foot long and has a sharp curved edge at the bottom. There is a carved out area around the top that fits the thumb and allows the hand to grasp onto the tool for leverage to dig and for other purposes (if it is truly native american).

Is this considered an artifact?

I’m making a native american artifact for school, and I’m planning on making a mini wigwam. (The teacher allowed us to create a home). I’d also like to put the wigwam on a foamboard and put
clay people and animals on it.

Would that be considered an artifact still?

Help figuring out what this Native American artifact is…?

15+ years ago my uncle dug up an indian artifact that appears to be a snake head swallowing an egg, or moon… the thing that is being swallowed is perfectly round. The snake head is squared off on both ends. It was found in SE Missouri. The rock is about the size of a golf ball and its a plane brown color. PLEASE help us figure out what this is!

I found a Native American artifact. What should I do with it?

I found a pestle (mortar and pestle) in a local creek that is believed to have been used by the Coastal Miwok Indians who lived in this area for approximately 5000 years up in to the late 1800’s.

There is still oxidized residue and a partial shearing on the head of the pestle from heavy usage.

What should I do with this item and who or where can I donate it?

Needing help finding Native American art, or get in touch with a REAL native artist.?

Now that hubby is getting out of the army, we are finally sitting down and having a real wedding. Im Tlingit, and have incorporated our “lovebird” design into our wedding, but im looking into his side, and so very lost. He’s of the three affiliated tribe of Mandan,Hidatsa and Arikara. (and of course since it has to do with the wedding…he’s less then helpful :)….) Does anybody know where I can find actual artwork from them, not just the tourist versions. Or even names of artists from these tribes?
something along the lines of “love” or “unity”
edit: TO: mr.two crows: if you could find actual artists that would be great!!! examples of real art would be awesome. old school or new. just basically done in the same style by a real “skin.” lol yeah not toooo helpful, i know. Thank you!
