Indian Artifact? Help I have picture!!!?
I live in a very small town in south Georgia and was mowing a guy’s yard like 3-4 years back and found an interesting indian artifact. I believe it to be either a blunt point or a scraper, but have no idea. I have included a picture and would like to know a possible tribe and year. Creek and Cherokee Indians were big down here. I remember seeing a work by a certain Native American artist before, but I cannot recall his name. He displayed himself on his back in a glass case and it was titled “Artifact”, “Relic”, “Specimen”, or something like that. looks like a smooth axe head about four by six with a perfectly round hole exactly the same distance from each side. smooth as glass. a charcoal grey color.
How much are native american artifacts worth?
These artifacts are from a very long time ago. They aren’t made my modern day native americans. (The fancy items with the leather, feathers, bead work, etc.)
There are some VERY primitive looking pipes and and an axe. The axe is basically a carved stone attached to a wooden handle with some type of string made from animal hyde. My great-grandfather discovered them in central ohio when an area was excavated for development.
I don’t think it is wrong to sell them if someone is a collector, of if a museum wants to put them on display.
